Estate Cleaning Approach

Conservation cleaning log with room checklist, materials notes and staged timings

A first visit maps high-traffic routes, delicate finishes and access constraints. We note floors, stone, timber, metalwork and textiles, then outline suitable products and tools. Where rooms are in regular use, tasks are split into short, low-disruption sessions with tidy hand-over at the end of each stage.

Seasonal work may include guest-wing resets, curtain and rail dusting, cornice and picture frame detail, lantern and chandelier care, pantry and scullery refresh, and outdoor thresholds. Timeframes depend on room size and condition; updates are shared after each block of work with photographed notes.

Cleaning Questions

Which areas can be covered?

Entrances, boot rooms, main halls, stairs, landings, drawing rooms, studies, guest suites, kitchens for light reset, and service corridors. Outbuildings and attics can be added after a quick look at access and storage.

What products are used?

Neutral and pH-appropriate cleaners, soft microfibre, horsehair and goat hair brushes, non-scratch pads, filtered water, and labelled caddies. Strong agents are avoided unless a test area and owner approval are in place.

How are valuables handled?

Small items are photographed in place, then moved only if needed and returned with a matching photo. Cabinets and frames are dusted in situ unless a different instruction is agreed on the day.

Can work run around guests or events?

Yes — schedules can be split into early, daytime or evening blocks with quiet tasks during occupied periods and noisier parts moved to free slots. A short hand-over note follows each block.
